Survey of operator algebras and open questions In this talk(s), I will tell the subject as a whole starting from a Hilbert space, defining C*-algebras and von Neumann algebras, reviewing some basic theorems in the subject. I plan to talk about some of the most popular questions in the subject. 2. An introduction to noncommutative probability theory. Noncommutative moment problem and Connes's approximate embedding. "Independences" in the noncommutative settings will be introduced and basic results will be discussed accordingly. I will also talk about classical and noncommutative moment problems, and state Connes's approximate embedding of factors as a truncated moment problem. 3. Free entropy and its applications Free entropy will be defined. Techniques of computing (or estimating) free entropies will be discussed in some details.
