In this talk, we review a recent paper, [Cosco and Shapira, Topologically induced metastability in periodic XY chain, JMP 2021]. First, we understand the fundamental mechanism of the 1D periodic XY chain which induces a metastable behavior therein. Then, we identify a sharp threshold over which the stationary state undergoes a phase transition. Finally, in the regime where there exists a CLT-type distribution of metastable states, we study the metastable transition time in the logarithmic scale.
