거울대칭은 수학의 다른 두 분야의 이론 간 연관관계를 제시하며, 물리학의 초끈이론에서 비롯되어 수학의 여러 분야에 지난 2~30년간 많은 영향을 주었다.
이번 강연에서는 곡면 (구, 토러스 등)에서 곡선들과 이에 둘러싸인 다각형이 만드는 기하학과 이와 거울대칭을 이루는 다항식과 그 인수분해 (정확히는 다항식 과 항등행렬의 곱을 두 다항식 행렬의 곱으로 인수분해)의 대수학 간의 직접적인 연결고리를 설명한다.
일반적으로 사교다양체의 라그랑지안 부분다양체들을 사용하여, 그 푸카야 범주와 LG model의 행렬인수분해를 직접 연결하는 Functor를 만드는 방법론이 있다. ( 홍한솔, Siu-Cheong Lau박사와의 공동연구에 기반)
