In this talk, I will give a gentle introduction to homogeneous dynamics, focusing on equidistribution problems for group actions on homogeneous spaces. I will explain the basic ideas behind unipotent dynamics and Ratner’s equidistribution theorem, together with some of its arithmetic applications. If time permits, I will also briefly mention recent quantitative developments and their connections with projection theorems in harmonic analysis.
