In this talk we discuss quasilinear equations involving the p-Laplacian. After a survey of different kind of problems and possible methods to solve them, the speaker concentrates on selected results and related open problems he has been interested in during the last three decades. In particular, the eigenvalue problem for the p-Laplacian and the Fredholm alternative at the first eigenvalue will be of particular interest.
