Title: The Distribution of Lochs' variable and the transfer operator approach
Abstract: In this talk, I will discuss the asymptotic distribution of the generalized Lochs variable $k_{\varepsilon}(x)$, which is defined as the length of first consecutive agreements of digits in the continued fraction expansions of $x$ and $x+\varepsilon$. We use spectral properties of a weighted transfer operator developed by Baladi and Vall'ee to provide a systematic dynamical proof of Gaussian limit law for $k_{\varepsilon}$. Our approach refines previous results of Faivre and others with an improved error term. This is a joint work with Hae-Sang Sun.
