A subset A of the integers is called s-almost square universal if every sufficiently large positive integer can be written as a sum of at most s squares of elements from A. In this talk, we investigate the minimal such number when A is a given residue class of modulo a positive integer. Moreover, we present an analogous result concerning the minimal number in the setting of s-square universality.
