초록:
This talk focuses on multiscale modeling of sea ice dynamics, linking particle, kinetic, and hydrodynamic descriptions of sea ice floes. Motivated by the perspective of Hilbert’s sixth problem, we develop a particle–continuum framework that systematically bridges microscopic floe interactions and macroscopic sea ice behavior. Starting from a kinetic formulation for floe particles, continuum hydrodynamic equations are derived through the BBGKY hierarchy, capturing the statistical structure and large-scale evolution of the system, as well as its coupling with ocean dynamics. Within this multiscale modeling setting, we briefly present data assimilation as an application, introducing a Lagrangian–Eulerian Multiscale Data Assimilation (LEMDA) framework built on the underlying particle–continuum hierarchy. The talk concludes with a short outlook on current efforts to incorporate realistic data into multiscale sea ice modeling and assimilation.
