In this talk, we study elements of projective tensor products of Banach spaces that admit optimal representations. The existence of such representations can be viewed as a natural tensorial counterpart of norm attainment in the classical Bishop–Phelps theory. Projective norm-attaining tensors are also closely connected with optimal decompositions in projective tensor products, the geometry of tensor norms, and the theory of nuclear operators. We will discuss some recent developments in this direction. We will present several recent results concerning the existence and structure of such optimal representations.
